LTCSP Initial Pool Care Areas Tabs

For a resident on a ventilator: 

  • Are there signs of anxiety, distress or labored breathing? 

  • Is the head of bed elevated 30-45 degrees?   

  • Is suction equipment immediately accessible? 

  • If the alarm sounds, does staff respond timely? 

For a resident with a trach: 

  • Is the tracheostomy site clean? 

  • Is there emergency tracheostomy equipment, ambu bag, and functional suction equipment readily assessable in the room?
