Policy: 

This facility utilizes the following policy for the daily Morning Meeting to ensure effective communication and coordination among departments. 

Procedure: 

Morning Meeting Agenda: 

  1. Non-Nursing Department Heads Daily Review: 

  • Interdepartmental Problems: Discussion of any issues requiring interdepartmental coordination or resolution. 

  • Family Concerns/Issues: Review of any concerns or issues raised by residents' families. 

  • Non-Clinical Resident Issues: Address non-clinical concerns affecting residents. 

  • Facility Events & Happenings: Update on upcoming events and activities within the facility. 

  • Expected Visitors: Information on visitors expected in the facility, including inspectors, family members, or special guests. 

  • Specific Departmental Updates: Updates from each department head on relevant issues or activities. 

  • Room Changes: Notification of any room changes affecting residents. 

  • Admissions/Discharges: Update on recent admissions and discharges. 

  • Deaths: Report any resident deaths. 

  • Accidents/Incidents (A/I) Review: Review of recent accidents or incidents involving residents. 

  1. Transition to Clinical Portion: 

  • At the conclusion of the non-nursing portion of the meeting, all non-nursing department heads may be dismissed. 

  • The clinical portion of the meeting will be held with only the necessary personnel: Nursing, Staff Development, Infection Control, MDS, Social Services, Dietary, Recreation, and Therapy. 

  1. Clinical Daily Review: 

  • Skilled Nursing Services: Discussion of current skilled nursing services being provided, including updates on resident conditions and care plans. 

  • Hospice: Review of residents receiving hospice care and any pertinent updates. 

  • 24/72 Hour Clinical and Nursing Report and Assessment: Review of clinical and nursing reports and assessments conducted within the last 24 to 72 hours, focusing on any significant changes in resident conditions or care needs. 

Meeting Rules: 

  • The meeting should start consistently at the designated time and be kept as brief as possible while ensuring all relevant issues are covered. 

  • All members are expected to arrive on time and remain present until the meeting is concluded. Interruptions should be avoided unless there is an emergency. 

  • Only one person should speak at a time to ensure clear communication and focus on the agenda items. 

Documentation: 

  • Ensure that all relevant information discussed during the meeting is documented accurately. 

  • Documentation should be accessible to all necessary personnel to maintain continuity of care and address any issues raised during the meeting.
