ROHO Cushion Monitoring

ROHO Cushion Monitoring

Purpose:

To ensure the ROHO cushion is properly inflated and providing optimal support to prevent pressure ulcers and ensure resident comfort.

Procedure:

Step 1: Place Person on Chair

  • Gently place the resident on the chair, ensuring the ROHO cushion is centered underneath.

Step 2: Settle Person

  • Position the resident on the cushion in their normal sitting position.

Step 3: Position Hand for Check

  • Slide your hand between the cushion surface and the resident's bottom to feel for the lowest bony prominence.

Step 4: Properly Position the Hand

  • Identify the lowest bony area, typically the ischial tuberosity or 'sit bones'. If unsure, gently lift the resident's leg slightly to feel the bony area move in your hand.

Step 5: Check Cushion Height

  • Wiggle your fingers to ensure there is approximately ½ inch of air between the resident and the bottom of the cushion.

Documentation:

  • Document the weekly hand checks on the ROHO Cushion Inflation Monitoring Form.

  • Record any adjustments or actions taken based on the cushion height check.

  • Note any observations or concerns regarding the resident's comfort or skin condition.
