Humidifier – Use Of 

Purpose: 

  • To relieve discomfort from colds, coughs, and bronchial respiratory ailments by cool steam. 

  • To obtain relief of nasal and bronchial passage due to warm, too dry, often parched indoor heat. 

  • To maintain room humidity at healthful levels. 

Procedure: 

I. Physician’s Order: 

  • Humidifiers are used only when specifically ordered by the physician. 

II. Preparation: 

  • Before filling the container, lift the top of the unit off and place it upside down to avoid damage to the motor. 

  • Fill the container to the “fill line” with plain cold tap water. DO NOT OVERFILL. 

  • After filling, replace the top to prevent spilling. 

III. Usage: 

  • Place the humidifier on the bedside stand. 

  • Plug in the humidifier and turn it on. 

  • Disconnect the humidifier when not in use. 

IV. Maintenance: 

  • Rinse the container after each use, empty out any remaining water, and wipe it dry. 

  • Do not add medication of any type to the water in the container.
